I literally take nothing but my bow, quiver+arrows, machete, a knife, matches and a canteen. The machete slots into a pouch I made for it on the quiver and the knife, matches and canteen go on my belt. It gives me so much more freedom to move around, climb and even give chase in some cases. I've overnighted once before with no tent and been fine.
