I am wanting to make my own knife and have no clue were to get started, I really like my Mora so the design would be something like a Mora 1, only full tang, a bit thicker steel, and an over all larger blade.

I intend on practicing on a few old files just to see what i'm in for then after I think I have it down I'll buy a piece of steel and go from there.

I'd really like to do without any power tools, I realize if have to use a drill press for the handle but more or less I'd like to have the knife made of steel and elbow grease.

Anyone even make their own knife? Know anything about heat treating?
