I want to go check out Bruce Peninsula this upcoming weekend but I've never gone hiking through the snow. I've also only gone hiking once in my entire life.

Anyone here live in the area, or have been hiking during winter and can offer tips/ advice? I've got a warm winter jacket, a good toque, and plan on wearing track pants under sweat pants. The boots I'll be using will either be steel toe shoes or a pair of timberlands

I'll also have a backpack with:
>extra sweater
>extra pants
>extra socks
>water bottle

I plan in spending about 8 hours outside.
