Thrift store. I haven't been to a real clothing retailer in years. Once you find real /out/ gear for almost free, you can't go back to paying $80 a shirt.

I try them on in stores (Nordstrom, REI, Eddie Bauer) then buy them online wherever cheapest. EB is an exception since they constantly have good sales and clearance at the end of seasons.

Used to buy in Intersport but recently realized it's shit quality for a big price. Luckily Decathlon opened in my place a year ago, they have decent stuff for affordable price. For stuff above Decathlon's reach, like alpinism, ice climbing etc, I buy more expensive brands from local outdoor shop when there are big discounts

I was mostly bring sarcastic. Packrat is nice but feels more trendy and caters to the college crowd. Uncle Sam's is a little more comfortable, albeit smaller. Both have decent stock. You'll find larger stuff like kayaks at packrat and milsurp stuff (plus modern gear) at Uncle Sam's. I shop at both of them but generally lean toward Uncle Sam's.

When you do go to packrat, the sale rack upstairs and to the right is usually really good. Off season gear for half price sometimes.

Uncle Sam's usually has good sales in the back on the left next to the milsurp racks.
