>>1176939i have done probably 200-300 miles in the backcountry and countless miles in the city in a pair of lunas. They lasted reasonably well.
I had hemp laces the entire time and the toe knot kept breaking and the hemp eventually all but rotted. replaced the laces three times. they now sell a reenforced toe knot. a friend ran the nylon strap looking laces all over the hills in colorado with no issues.
i wore them as is in warm weather and i wore them with wool tabi socks/slippers/boot things (thick wool tops, stiff felted wool soles) in the winter, camping and hiking in 2-3" snow that way.
i stopped wearing them because the soles eventually wore to the shape of my foot and no longer provided any real protection or comfort. i haven't bought another pair yet because i'm too lazy to be bothered with it while i have a different set of shoes that function just fine for the time being.
i will probably buy another pair for hikes when my current shoes wear out.
i thought they'd be shit when i bought them but i liked them a lot. the only downside is everyone asks about your jesus sandals when you have hemp laces. they do look a bit stupid.
