>>1183038You don't have to buy gear that looks like it's from the future. You can buy reasonably priced gear that looks normal for today and is completely useful. The aesthetic part comes from the use of the gear in my opinion. So let's use your car example here:
You have your Mustang Shelby, which desu is high powered, overpriced, and isn't all too useful for anything but drag, but looks aesthetic (if you're into that kind of thing). That's your overpriced and useless aesthetic gear that doesn't do much but look good. You don't have to immediately go from that to the tesla, which looks like some dumb shit from the future that has all the features you don't give a fuck about.
So the next step, again in my opinion, would be to get a jeep xj or 4 runner or tacoma or some shit like that. All super versatile, easy to wrench and manipulate to your needs at a decent price. The aesthetics might not all be there, but once you use it enough and manipulate it enough to your needs, you have a rustic piece of shit that only you can truly appreciate the looks of because you know the stories behind its look. You made those stories happen.
And we can stick to the sports car examples with say an MX5, the poor man's sports car. Again, super versatile and can be wrenched to fit your needs until you have a car that can get sideways, go a decent speed, or just look cool. All at a decent price and all only aesthetic to you because you put in the effort to make it aesthetic through use and modification.
I have a ton of shit like my bag and fishing gear and boots that all in my opinion have a ton of story behind them because of the use I put into them and look cool now that they look like they've been used. I didn't buy them fucked up. Just go out and use gear, only then do they become aesthetic.
