>>1185489Any urban area you fish is going to be iffy. You can still eat the fish, but you don’t want to eat big predators daily. Whenever you’re fishing urban lakes, rain runoff gets into ponds and canals and takes with it all the fertilizer from the grass and motor oil and shit from the roads. The upside is we don’t have many industries that were dumping barrels of mercury into the streams in the 1920s.
Oh and fishing is actually great here. If you really want to eat, go for cichlids or just fish saltwater. Plus the water never freezes and the fish grow fast.
>>1185506Crappie are supposed to be down here, but I have never found any. And there are barely any bluegill. Native North American fish are fairly lazy compared to lots of these Asian and South American fish so they take over quickly. I always tell people it’s hard to understand how bad snakeheads are for the ecosystem until you catch a few and see how they hunt.
