Yosemite or Yellowstone?

My Fiance and I will have about 10 days off in a few months and have been debating about whether to go to Yosemite or Yellowstone. We live near equidistant from either park(northern Arizona).
I have wanted to go to Yosemite for the last couple of years, after reading a bit of John Muir, to see what all of the fuss is about. Overall, I think the /out/ there is more appealing than what I have read/seen about Yellowstone.
However I'm not really opposed to Yellowstone, and I don't really know much about either park if I'm honest.

What do you think /out/? Is one better than the other? What are some good things to do at either? Should we even go?

10 days is enough for both assuming you can afford it and are okay putting up with crowds and taking the extra time to drive between them.

Keep in mind though both are pretty crowded unless you take the time to hike into the back country.

There are fuckloads of tourists in both, at least close to the roads.

They both have amazing backcountry, where you can get away from the people. Personally, I think Yellowstone is a bit more memorable, with its geothermal activity and buffalo and such.

That's probably a function of my experiences in each. I've only been to Yosemite once. One day, I hiked in the high country and had a lovely quiet time with tons of wildflowers and such. Then I rode my bike down into the valley and set up camp at a biker-hiker site. Then I hiked something like 25 miles with ~5000' elevation gain to and from this, where I was surrounded by dozens of people who had driven to the closer trailhead.

Either is a cool place, but stay away from camping near geothermal hotspots in YSNP. Aside from the fact that the cool places smell like egg farts, you can literally die from the hydrogen sulfide gas seeping into your tents and killing you in your sleep. Otherwise I loved my trip to YS, was breddy gub.
