It literally and objectively has nothing to do with Netflix and enitrely was because of Aniplex and Yuasa.

Only scenes with nudity would have needed the generic black bar / beam of light censoring had they aired on a channel that wasn't AT-X, but the anime would have been exactly the same anyway. If you actually watched anime you would know that:
1. There are anime with far more explicit content that air on TV, often uncensored on AT-X (paid tv station). Just last season there was an anime with a fucking rape scene that actually aired quite early at night.
2. Late night anime, like Devilman, air at 12am onwards when no one is even watching fucking TV, so they have a lot more freedom with what they can show.
