What are some things or activities that if you do while camping instantly make you a beta? I see a lot of hate on here of a lot of different things (e.g. batoning). Please give me some examples of what not to do.

Just enjoy yourself. If you are doing out right not many will see you anyways.

If anything learn how to pick a decent campsite. Practice with your gear before overnighting in your backyard. Try out your cooking gear. If you are building fires, practice making them in all kinds of weather.

/beta is a meme. Just enjoy your time, and don't leave a fuckin mess out there.

In military reconnaisance everyone just carried big knives to do small camp tasks because the squad's axe and saw were always who knows where every time you needed them.

There are exceptions to this, but I would say that carrying too much gear when hiking/camping makes you look bad. I've been /out/ a few times with people that end up carrying TONS of extra shit they didn't really need and they ended up physically wasted way before I was, and I'm not even in great shape.
