Because the English speaking world already has tons of Eastern Philosophy lite books. Most people recommending Kierkegaard, Baudrillard, or w/e usually do so with the caveat that you need to read a dozen or so other dense texts to have the correct context.

Also Ted K isn't even a philosopher, he's just insane. Why bother reading him when there are plenty of others who argued similar points much more coherently?

Anyone else read some book in gradeschool about some islander on a deserted island? He gets caught in a storm or some shit.

The only thing I remember about the book is he steps on coral and uses a lime to clean the wound. Don't know why thats the only thing that has stuck with me over the years, but yeah.

SAS survival handbook is pretty fun, small and you should probably buy a copy if you're a brepper, but it's very broad (you'd do well to suppliment it with more local knowledge for your environment).

Andrew Skurka's guide to lightweight walking (can't remember the name) was very useful to teach me all about equipment and techniques on the trail.

I made the mistake of telling my sister and she co-opted my plan, despite never even being interested in the outdoors, though.
