My guess is they're unable to either a) Understand what McCandless was doing (ie. he didn't have a map because he basically wanted to be lost), b) Separate the stupid shit he did from the ideology behind it (yes, he did stupid things - everyone knows that - but it doesn't change the fact that he did what he did for the same reasons we do), or both.

i tried to watch this movie because muh /out/ movies.
but it just seemed kind of like a bunch of expostional cliche' scenes of teenage angst, rebellion, poorly scrapped together with a bunch of music which i guess was intended to smooth it all out and make it seem more homogeneous. cheap trick. . it wasnt even a movie it was like a godam two hour long music video.
i couldnt watch it for more than the first 20 minutes

Theres a lot that can be drawn from the movie whether you feel positively or negatively about it. At least try to watch a whole movie before you judge it based on 1/6th of the thing
