I'm right handed & always used left cranked reels. Never did understand why right handed people are willing to crank right handed & switch the rod between hands when casting.

I tried the Shimano & a Daiwa, the Daiwa felt smother to me so ended up getting a Tatula SV TW.

Everything is froze over here so just waiting for it to warm up again, then thinking about takeing a 4 hour drive to Lake Michigan so I can fish it a little.

I have a shimano baitcaster but i havent been able to get the hang of it, i can only cast so far comfortably without birds nesting every other cast. Im in canada though so we get about 4 months a year for bass and pike between ice and steelhead seasons, and even then id rather go for walleye

I already use a fly rod, float rod and spin setup pretty regularly so im thinking of ditching the baitcast altogether since i can cast pretty far and accurately with a spin already. Thoughts?

Keep practicing mang. Like 80% of it is getting the casting motion down. Once you figure it out, you will probably outcast the spinning gear in many situations.

I probably owned my first memecaster for 2 years before I really started using it and enjoying it.

Make sure you have the reel setup for the lure your using & feather the spool with your thumb when you cast. Also dont go with light weight lures, stay at 1/4oz or better. if you do use a light weight lure add weight to it.

I had such a bad time my first try I just gave up. last year I gave it another go and picked up on it much faster & have to say I love baitcasting now. Only thing I use my spinning setup for now is lightweight stuff 1/8oz or less or if I have to really bomb a lure out far.

imo memecasters work better for that assuming the lure is 1/4oz+ and the spinning reel isn’t spooled with much lighter line.

I can launch a 1/2oz lure so far since I figured out how to use my baitcasters. I probably get 30%+ more range on the baitcaster with 20lb braid than a spinning reel with 15lb and a similar rod.
