hey /out/ finally buying my last item of the big 3.
I need a sleeping bag and a mat.
I will be 3 seasoning in Yosemite national park and I have 175$ as my budget, and i would like something that is light weight.
6 pounds being my absolute weight limit, yet I hope to go lighter (3 or 4).
what would you recommend

6 lbs is not light for a sleeping bag. i used to use a $60 (on sale) synthetic marmot trestles 15 for sierra backpacking until i scored a "last year's design" clearance rei igneo 18 down bag for $180 which easily packs to about 1/3 the size and weighs <2 lbs.

If you can find what you're looking for at the price you've set, let the rest of us know.

My recommendation would be to try and line up REIs "Spend $100 and get $20 Gift Card" and "20% off One REI Garage Item". That's been my way of getting savings in UL items.

Not op but the garage is just their clearance section of their website. I have been to the garage sale at my local store a few times. Usually great deals but you have to show up very early. We usually do around 4 hours before and we are usually in the first 40-50 in the doors. Also you have to know what you are looking for. You don't get to browse. You want shoes? Head to the shoes and gran the first 3 of whatever size you are. Want a tent? Head straight there. Helps if you've been to one before.

It’s just what they call the clearance section on their site. Not to be confused with the garage sale which is where they sell all their lightly used returns.

Both are still good quality and you can get some stuff for stupid cheap.

I don't imagine I'll be camping in anything below -5c I've done nicely at that temp with a bag rated for 0c and some layers

Well the z packs solo and ee enigma are basically the same price and the enigma is .01 of an ounce difference. You could get a lighter enigma (950 fill) for $25 usd that’s a third of an ounce difference. But some people actually give a shit about that

I've taken it down to 22 degrees with my normal cold weather sleeping clothes and been toasty warm still. Winter thermal long underwear, running shorts over top, merino wool socks and hate, and a fleece polar thermal on top. I be I could take it into the mid teens and be comfortable.

I've been wanting to upgrade it, but I just can't justify it. It's just too good of a bag.

Seen this thing in person before and it looks pretty solid. This and a foam pad would be a solid sub 200 3 season setup, and relatively light compared to your goal.
