Is there a pounds to liter conversion rate for backpacks?
I’m looking at the ofsprey atmos 65l and I don’t know how much Gear I can put in it

So I’m not sure what you’re asking but I’ll give it a shot:
I own one and the guy at the store told me he’d only put 45lbs max in it. However I just looked on osprey’s site and they say 30-50. So let’s say it’s 50lbs. If you divide 50 by 65 you’ll find out how many pounds you can fit 10/13lbs or .76923077lbs per liter of volume. How this would help you buy it? I have no clue

and it's also possible that internal frame backpacks can carry the same weight technically as a soft bag of sturdy materials but it sure as hell won't feel the same. it will kill you on the march if you overload a bag.

Any of stuff like tents pack, sleeping bag pack have pack size label, so you can count volume you need for backpack.
If not use ruler to measure your stuff.
You also need calculator.
Then go there >>1189948 to know howto load.
After all if your backpack feels light fill free space with water.

Most modern internal frame multi-day packs can handle up to 50lbs reliably, you can carry more than that but it will shorten the the lifespan of the harness and straps if you do it regularly.
Even standard, non-UL gear has gotten light enough these days that hitting 50lbs pack weight takes some effort. Unless you're hiking with forestry tools or half of a deer, in which case you'd probably want a hauler frame anyway.

When I was /out/fitting we had this 110 liter siege mountaineering pack that was gathering dust in the stock room, so on slow days we'd load it up with 100lbs of weight bags and see who could wear it the longest.

The carrying capacity of a backpack has more to do with the frame, suspension, straps, and hipbelt.

An MLD prophet is about 60 liters but it's frameless, weighs just under a pound, and can probably only carry 30 LBS max.

The Atmos however is close to 4 pounds and im pretty sure you could load that sucker up with 50-60 pounds and have it be manageable.
