Question for any construction workers out there.

I'm planning on excavating some land at the back of my house and putting up two or three sheds.

What are the cheapest methods of building the sheds? I want something thicker than wood for insulation purposes. Should I use bricks? Buy metal wall sheets and roofing ready made? Just put in some containers/cabins?
What is the cheapest and easiest way?
I'm putting up the sheds for storage, gym and tools and shit so I dont need to insulate too much.

Buy a couple shipping containers, cut some windows, add some insulation and call it done.
Also buy some crab meat.

Stick frame can have better R value over brick or concrete. Just depends how you want to build it and how much you care about insulation vs cost.

Really this is a question for DIY. But seeing as you posted on /out/ I assume you're in somewhat of a rural area?
If that's the case, a sticks up traditional frame with local supplies is the way to go. Shipping containers or prefab corrugations would probably cost too much where you are. Plus they require significantly more foundation.

Like everyone else has said, the best method depends entirely on how insulated you need it. The cheapest way would be to set a 2x8 subfloor on concrete blocks, frame the walls and roof with 2x4, and cover all with plywood. Cheap shingles or polymer roof coat, cheap vinyl plank siding or even just whitewash the plywood. What materials you use depends entirely on how long you want it to last, how sturdy it needs to be, and what you want it to look like. If you're insulating, don't forget to insulate the subfloor. You'll get a lot of heatloss through the roof and floor, so don't just do the walls.

I would hire a proper contractor if you dont know what your doing. Im an architectural tech and if you fuck up where your waterproofing membranes are in an insulated wall youre going to end up with rot and mold issues in a few years time, esp if you live somewhere that has cold winters. That and having proper foundations that won't heave with frost are the two big ones to worry about, since it's a small shed structure isn't much of a concern

if he is burying them doesnt he have to be careful about ground movement? Containers are built to withstand loads of vertical forces but not horizontal ones right?

You just don't use shipping containers. I know of a couple of people with bunkers and they used concrete blocks with concrete and re-bar encasing it .

Totally depends on how durable and how much work you want to put in. You can throw up 1/2 OSB and call it a day or you can make an actual shed.

The best bang for your buck method would be cement board walls with 3/4 CDX for the floors and 1/2 OSB with whatever shingles are on sale at your local Home Depot or Lowes.

I'd say you build it out of wood and then put some isolation up. It'll be cheaper I think

This is objectively the cheapest option, and is also the reason why it is the most common modern method used for housing construction around the world.

Just use less insulation than might be in a normal house.
