Would it be foolish to go camping on my own? Especially when I have zero experience?

I'm a bit of a loner and I guess making the effort of going /out/ just to be alone outdoors won't be any different.

I feel like I'm trying to talk myself out of it.

Do it, anon. Going /out/ alone isn't the same as being alone in a coffee shop, bar or the cinema. In nature you will find company and I mean it, there's always something going on, even small animals are fun to observe. Then you have amazing views to let your mind run will and also pure solitude can be humbling as fuck but also liberating. /out/ there there's no one looking at you, judging you or telling you how to live, how to dress or what to like. Even if you just go for long or small hikes you should do it.

I love going car camping on my own. Bring a case of beer, a bunch of weed, maybe some other stuff....and just enjoy myself. Cooler with some fun food, munch on chips, play music over the car stereo, get wasted and stomp around a giant fire. Fun stuff. Also, looking at the stars and thinking about life by yourself in a forest is pretty soothing. I am lucky that I have such a great camping spot, nobody around to hear my music or be bothered by me. And, a river runs beside it so it's fun to walk in, put a camping chair in the middle, and let the water flow around you.

Depends on where you're going. I wouldn't recommend heading out into the woods alone in a snowstorm, but a public campground with other people about should be okay for a noob. I wouldn't recommend backpacking into the middle of nowhere if you've never hiked before.

Where are you thinking of camping? Country, subregion, and type of camping makes a bit of a difference, since in some places the biggest threat is smol blue crows will steal your lunch and in other places the biggest threat is that you might accidentally swim into a nest of spiders while trying to get away from a crocodile that thought you were trying to steal the half-eaten cobra that it stole from a koala.

I hate camping with friends, they are too noisy. When I set up my hammock I just want to be left alone to watch the clouds, listen to the sounds, think/feel, hear the sounds of the fire, say my prayers/thanks, watch the stars and planets overhead, fall asleep to natures silence.

Having friends there usually fuck that all up. Feels good to hike/camp alone.
