Like these animals are being kept alive, safe and comfy because they had an ailment that prevent them from doing it themselves in the wild.
The difference being that the human can walk away and do other things.
A more appropriate photo for the human would be a prisoner.

I don't know if anyone here has been to the DC zoo but it really depresses me. Certain animals like the cheetah have really nice big habitats, but the primates just have a cinderblock and glass room and they look super bummed out. It's weird that the animal most likely to understand its own captivity gets the worst habitat. I wouldn't mind zoos if they looked more like the giraffe pen in DC and less like the one in your pic.

Zoos are an abomination. People who work at zoos will say otherwise but they conveniently overlook the conflict of interest being that it keeps them employed.

The money spent at these places would be better spent buying and preserving habitats.

It's sad that stuff goes extinct sure it'd be nice if they didn't. But keeping a Panda in a concrete cell isn't my idea of conservation.
Same goes for chimps. Besides they're marketing tools so the boardroom can meet their performance bonus targets.

Nothing blows your mind more than being innawoods and coming across some rare beast just going about it's business.
