hogs in my region are multplying too fast and are bothering farmers and other wild life, so the gov said it is ok to hunt them, and i heard i can make money with that.

can you guys give me tips on hog hunting?
how many lbs a crossbow need to be efective?
should i bring my dog (pointer) or it is dangerous for him?
is camoflage important? i heard they dont see very well
tips on tracking them?

That being said I'm a nerd so I use my Uberti SAA in .357 and my Auto 5 with foster slugs for hog hunting, can't speak on bow info. I'd recommend no dog, there's no need. And for camouflage, eh. Some guys ride around on their fields in 4 wheelers and run them down to shoot them, other set feed piles and shoot them, others just walk around or do night shooting to kill them. Depends on what you want to do.

if you are capable of shooting a normal bow, and you choose to suit a crossbow, you are definitely a soy boy. get a normal bow with at least 60 lbs pull back and a smaller broadhead that will get through their tough hide/armor. really just use a gun because you are probably just going to miss and have to drop your weapon and climb a tree while the hog attempts to gore your

If they are on your land just trap them. Get some sturdy fencing and an electronic drop gate. Set up a feeder with a couple hundred pounds of feed corn scattered around. Set up a camera to watch them and wait until the entire herd is inside the fenced area and drop the gate, then dome shot the fuckers point blank.

I wouldn't bring a pointer to hunt hog. Good catch dogs are more like a pit/bull mastiff hybrid.

If you can't set a trap you'll want the strongest round you can fire quickly. Fuck a crossbow, usually hogs move in groups of 10 to 30 so you might get 2 if your lucky with a crossbow since they flee when you drop one.

150lbs would be minimum here, but that is a regulation set by the state. Can you carry a spear? Tree stand an option?

Is there some sort of bacon bag limit that states you can't take more than x amount of bacon on the hoof? Because, I'd have 10 deep freezers loaded with bacon. Are your 10 freezers already full, anon?

Same as for deer at the very least. I wouldn't go below 40lbs, but that's slow and close. It also means you had better be fucking good and fucking lucky other wise you'll just piss it the fuck off. You'd better be in a tree stand. The higher the draw weight the faster the arrow should get to the target and less of a chance of miss. The main problem isn't so much the drawweight, but accuracy and where the wound is made. An arrow can go through and out hte other side and the animal just walks off if the hit was in a bad place. Some people also use spears. Here in America we also use explosives (webm).

If you are outside, you should be in full camo, even when going to get milk from the store. I'm not sure why this is even a question.

If there's so many that the statement, "hogs are multiplying too fast" can be stated then tracking is as simple as looking at the ground and seeing where it looks like a rotor tiller has passed by. Seriously though, find the watering hole and main food areas.

Which country? If I'm not mistaken even the strictest euro countries have exceptions for hunting/pest control. Also need to know your location because the size of hogs will be different. I got an old .308 that gives them he'll, but I know guy's who use .223 or smaller for them just fine. You might consider trapping them if you already have access to a trailer and a truck to pull it. I've heard you can get $0.50-$1.00 a pound here, so there may be a market in your area as well.

Are we talking true wild boar or feral domestics?

if you are looking for eradicating them completely you really need to try and get as many as you can in one shot. Pigs are smart and won't forget easy, the ones that escape you may become more wary and harder to get next time.. Piglets will also learn behaviors, so the generations to come could be more cautious too. If you only get a couple out of a team, it can actually cause an increase in population depending on the area and what you kill. Do not bring a dog that wasn't trained for hog hunting and isn't a pretty sturdy animal, also don't bring a dog that you would be broken up about if it got injured. I wouldn't suggest a pointer for hog hunting at all unless you want to give it a warrior's death.

im in Brazil. to get any weapon you need a very expensive license and guns are very expensive too.
the market is very good since almost no one hunts here, and plus i will charge farmers to control hogs in their farms.

i doing some research about hog behavior because im thinking of leaving the babies for other predators, do you think that is a bad idea? or maybe killing the adults and leaving the small ones for my dog so he can have some fun too

in a hour im going to the hunt/camping shop to see the crossbows

150lbs is doable. I was 12 when I shot my first crossbow, it didn't have a foot stirrup or cocking string, but had a 120 lb draw. The guy teaching me just put it on his sternum and cocked it. I did too. it was uncomfortable for sure. getting a crossbow with a foot stirrup was a blessing when I was 14, and it had a 150lb draw. no mechanical assistance needed, just don't be a pussy, lift with arms not your back. fun times.

I can tell you about boars
Boars form matriarchical societies mother-daughters- "grandchildren" (males live alone)
Boars are smart, the matriarch not only will know and remember the watering/ feeding places and their alternatives when resources are scarce but she will also be more careful and know all kind of underhanded tactics to evade and hide her pack from predators
In my country is advised to kill the younger ones and leave the matriarch to not break up the group
Since you are going for extermination, I would say go the other way around, shoot the older ones first so the inexperienced boars break up and have less odds of surviving
