yea making clay pottery would be possible and very useful in many situations
glass though would require very high temps same as metal though, probably beyond the average backyard kiln
for iron its also about purity and quality of that iron
just being able to extract it doesn't mean you can do anything useful with it, there's a reason iron was such a magical, mystical material for thousands of years.
honestly with pottery though you can do quite a lot even in a primitive living situation, even make hardened pots for high temp boiling and cooking as ancient peoples did.
maybe im just not thinking outside the box but what would you use quartz for?
copper would probably be the easiest metal to get a hold of and make usable at lower temps, but mining would require more than just one dude
stone tools are going to be a lot more useful for you honestly, and finding a good source of flint would be the best option
