The grind is smooth, the very edge is mirror polished - but if it were full price, I'd have gone for the Husqvarna Forest axe, half the price. Got the Husqvarna Carpenters axe (again, half price of similar Hultafors or more compared to Gransfors), and after an hour of dabbling with a bastard file, sandpaper and waterstones, I'd say it's in no way worse than the Hultafors. Probably will work on it some more. I also prefer the Husqvarna sheath, but I guess that's personal preference.
My point is, Hultafors is neat, but not twice as good as Husqvarna (and, as far as I know, Hultafors makes these as well, just lets some pillocks do the "finish").
