Allot of people use trolling setups on there kayaks rowing around catching big fish using artificial lure and live bait.
I caught pic related using ground setup targeting bottom feeders on an anchor system.
Lastly always be aware of whats going on around you on the ocean and make sure someone knows where you going and how late you getting back. Flares,Radio and Phone is very important if you doing offshore always wear a PFD/Life Jacket. Make sure you can get onto your kayak after tipping by practicing in the shallow water by just using your arms.
The sea is alive so there is going to be sea lions,dolphins and even sharks. Enjoy them and respect them and they will respect you.
