theres some caves near my house that look like it's just a tunnel, maybe about 40 feet deep. but if you crawl up near the ceiling of it, there is a small shaft i can fit through that open up into a dozen different chambers. i've been through there but only brought a flashlight with me, i didn't want to go too far for fear of being lost. i've been meaning to go back but its only accesible by a ~4 hour trip on kayak unless i wanted to throw my kayak off a cliff into the water over where the caves are. i'll probably do it sometime in the next few months whenever i have time to do it

There’s a larger entrance to that cave nearby. That’s just the fun entrance to test to see if you can make it through the squeeze. Once you get inside it opens up a lot. There’s a couple of tight squeezes to crawl through but they’re not that bad. You end up in a badass room with helectites hanging from the ceiling eventually, making it well worth the trip.

the doc I watched said no such thing about getting him getting free and a rope breaking. All I heard was he was in the hole the wrong way so the only way they could get him out was to either break his legs or chisel him out. The doctor in the cave monitoring the guy said they could tell that after being upside down for so long that the pain from breaking his legs would have been too much of a shock and insta killed him. he slowly died while they were chiseling away.

I love caves! Here's the pancake squeeze from Pettyjohns cave in GA. This is a section called the pancake squeeze. It's exactly what it sounds like. This is a pic taken from the widest part of that section. You've also got the worm tubes and a couple other tight spots.

My buddy got his head stuck in the worm tubes and he started hyperventilating and almost passed out in the cave! Lol!

yes but not overly tight spaces, I like to be able to crawl on my hands and knees and be at least shoulder width wide so I dont have to stretch my arms forward.

Also fuck caves that completely fill up with water. I work as a lifeguard but drowning scares the fuck out of me. Can't imagine the sheer panic of being lost in a cave while the water level slowly rises, and you know you have an hour to find your way out or else face slow but inevitable death via drowning. Honestly seems like the absolute worst way to die desu

it's basically an exercise in misery, but there's nothing like laying on your side for an hour in a creek up to your nose pushing 50 pounds of gear ahead of you trying to worm 100 yards to a 50 foot waterfall you have to place bolts for to rappel down to dig at the base of for 8 hours.

and then doing it again because hey, you might be going to one of the last places on earth not discovered by anyone else or you might be going to a wall.
