Hey there guys, my situation is like this I’m a husband and parent. I recently got into hiking cause of a buddy. Been a few times and I love it. I want to get some essential gear.
Problem is I have a habit of getting into something and not really following through long term. I tried biking and bought a bike and didn’t ever go riding. I got into lifting and never went again after a few months.
I am trying to decide if I should just buy some cheap gear to get me by for now and then if I stick with hiking I can buy nice gear later. I don’t have a ton to spend also.
For example I wanted to buy a nice Patagonia puffy from last season for $150 but I could use that money to buy several other cheaper items to make the money go further. I could get a cheap down puffy on amazon for $50.
What do you guys think? What gear do you use for day hikes? I’m in Southern California.
Anyways poorfag gear advice thread.
