>>1208626not really; the weather systems are fundamentally different, which led to the alberta side of the continental divide getting a different weighting of alpine features than the BC side. BC gets a lot of maritime polar air masses mixing with maritime tropical; that results in a lot of precipitation along the coastal area (resulting in BC's rainforest), but where it really makes a difference is where it interacts with alberta's continental polar systems over the mountains. Let that combination carry on for millions of years, and it makes a difference to the geography/ecology.
it's pretty much splitting hairs though; average tourists aren't going to notice too much of a difference, because they only visit the best few features each side has to offer

BC DOES have that awesome coastline/rainforest though, which albertafags can only dream of
