I’ve read almost everything McCarthy has written. Yeah, the terrain in Blood Meridian was the main character, felt a bit robbed in the Road. It’s a shame the most accessible book to get people into CM (far and away easiest to read) is also the darkest.
I really liked the second book in the Border trilogy, the one with the she-wolf.

Try Suttree. It’s different, it’s kind of /in/. It’s about a runaway that lives in a houseboat in 1950s Knoxville. Fishes and hangs out with negroes mostly.

no, but the two protagonists search from place to place trying to find cans of food left behind by preppers who weren't able to put them to any use. they come across one bunker that didn't seem to be touched and they find themselves in a paradise of tinned peaches and stuff.

I like them, the novelty is a little lost on me cause I’m out in the desert and watching a movie about tombstone takes me out of it cause it looks like where I live. The desert is beautiful but I like the woods and mountains more.

Death Valley in the winter is beautiful.
