My dad has a couple quads...Honda Foreman 450s. We usually make two or three trips a year down to Tennessee to ride at Royal Blue, Coal Creek, Brimstone, or Pickett. Lots of nice overlooks, caves, waterfalls, etc. down there. In addition to riding, he uses them for moving trailers, hauling firewood, hunting, etc.
Dirt bikes are fine if you are just looking to ride, but if you need to haul stuff or take a bunch of gear with you, ATVs are the way to go.
