I only use a portable stove because I am forced to by the government who doesn't allow lighting of fires anywhere outside private property.

Unironically yes. All "public" land is in posession of the government and under bylaws. I've been to many woodlands here and it is common see signs saying "We are watching you. Persons acting suspiciously will be reported directly to the police".

In Britain by the way. It is literally a police state super surveillance nightmare.

Depends on who's at camp that night. If there's women around I'll head to the fire and be social. If not I'll just cook in my tent. Spam cooked over the fire is incredible
