Noticed the old thread expired, and I had something terrifying happen the last time I was in the woods.

>Camping trip in the backcountry up around Elkmont/Newfound Gap in the Smokies with some friends
>Very easy hike, the first half of the trail is gravel, steady grade the rest of the way, trail winds alongside a small creek.
>We get to the campsite, and set up camp.
>After we set up the tents, decide to go exploring.
>Find ruined bridge, rusted out Model T bumper, rock wall
>Obvious people lived around here at some point before the park existed
>Night approaches, we cook some food up and shoot the shit around the campfire
>Begin hearing strange metal grinding sounds off in the woods.
>Think it is the backpack hoists blowing in the wind, think nothing of it
>Wind had been picking up all evening, was supposed to storm the next day.
>At some point in the evening, I decide to take a piss
>Walk past hoists
>Grinding sound coming from somewhere off over the next hill
>Kind of weirded out, but forget about it later.
>Eventually we get tired
>All pile in our tents
>Laying there, hear what I think is women singing.
>Brush it off as just the wind in the trees.
>Fall asleep for about an hour, when all of a sudden my tentmate wakes me up screaming "GET OUT OF MY TENT", "GET OUT OF HERE"
>He's grabbing me, pulling me away from the edge of the tent.
>Nearly piss myself with fear, we are both screaming.
>Says the he saw a human face pressing into the wall of the tent.
>Wakes everyone in our campsite up.
>We get calmed down, decide that we must have been dreaming.
>Try to go back to sleep, when I feel something brush against my foot, and then something that sounded like rain landed on top of the tent.
>Exited tent, nothing was there.
>Everyone is wide awake now.
>Buddy in another tent said he had heard howling earlier, and that he also had heard the woman's voices.
Tfw we packed our shit up at 1:30AM and hiked out.
