I only ever took mine car camping so I rolled mine up with the sleeping bag and camping pillow inside making it a bit more bulkier, not a hiker but I guess they would be too heavy to lug around all day.

Modern tent-style ones are just too cumbersome for anything other than throwing in a car.

If you want to go even lighter, consider an ultralight tent or a hammock.

Tents are harder to set up. If im partway through a long drive to fuckoffnowhere and im pushing myself to eat kilometers then i can just unroll my swag and get in. I dont even have to put the poles up if im totally buggered. Sleeping bag, pillow, all ready to go.

Seriously fuck tents. Fuck tents unless you are setting up for more than a few nights in one location...

Dont take a swag on a pack. They are bulky and heavy.

It probably doesn't count but I have a double swag for car camping, three poles super simple set up can be done in the dark and while drunk as fuck. You sacrifice being able to stand up but it's solid, waterproof and keeps you warm as shit especially with decent cold weather sleeping bags.

Bonus points to the spare matress which you can take out and use as a wagon sleeping matress if you don't plan on using the whole swag but having a portable quick set up tent beats crashing on a spare matress or in the back of a car.

I like my double swag, it's weird, it rocks.
