So I'm going on a 5 backpacking day trip to Big Bend in Texas late March. I'm new to the multiple day backpacking lifestyle. The price range I've browsed in sleeping bags from goes from $40 - $300 and then some. The worst temp we might expect at night from previous participants of the trip have reported maybe 40 degrees sometimes. I've invested big on my boots and backpack. Not really looking to dish out much more big money right now. Does anyone know some alternatives that fit as well as a compact sleeping bag? We will be staying in tents and we will have sleeping mats.
