Hey /out/, I usually browse /k/ but I enjoy /out/ activities. Anyways, my goal is to visit all 59 national parks in the US (even the retardedly far one in American Samoa). What national parks have you been to? Which are you favorites? Any tips for a particular one?

and this is why it pissed me off when pinnacles became a park. it instantly went from my chill spot to hike and climb to a packed parking lot that's nothing more than a checkmark on peoples' ticklists. sam farr can choke on a dick.

To be clear, I'm not some faggot liberal with a checklist. I did a lot of camping/fishing/backpacking and after a trip that took me through the Tetons and Yellowstone, I decided, huh, it could be cool to try and go to all the national parks. It gives me an excuse to go places I wouldn't have gone before. For example, I'm going to NM to hit Carlsbad Caverns but I'm also going to hunt pigs. I never would have gone down there solely to hunt pigs, but now I have a good reason.

I’ll be up at Denali this June and I hope I can hit up Olympia sometime. Been through tons of other national forests and places. Favorites are probably Arches, Acadia, and Grand Canyon due to fond memories with friends and family.

If you go to the Black Hills, avoid Rushmore at all fucking costs. That whole area is like a road side fucking attraction. Would be okay if they didn’t charge you $25 for some shitty museum and a bunch of flags. The Black Hills are beautiful though and I’ve encountered some really strange weather there.

I have a passport where I am collecting all the stamps from all the parks. I gave my older brother the Centennial edition as a gift but most people think it's lame. They each have their own stamp though. And the Centennial had its own stamps too. Stay away from the touristy ones if you don't like crowds. Yellowstone was cool but i had to fight Asians holding selfie sticks for a view anywhere. I suggest trying state parks too and there are lots of maps and guides to help you

Yeah when I went to Yellowstone and the Tetons I actually circumnavigated the state and hit Devils Tower. I realized I had time so I went to Rushmore. As you said, it was neat but overpriced and overhyped. It was only after that trip I decided to hit all nat'l parks, it's annoying because I was right by Wind Caves and Badlands but didn't do to them. As for Olympia, I'll get to it soon hopefully. I actually spread some ashes at Lake Cushman right on the border of the park and flipped a u-turn inside the gate, but that doesn't count. My favorites so far are Death Valley and Grand Tetons, loved the scenery and hiking at Tetons (Jackson Hole was really cool too but not /out/) and the stars/climate/hiking/everything at Death Valley.

If you go around mid May when the southern highway through Tetons is still closed you miss a majority of the asian tourists. Plus there’s an absolute fuckload of wildlife. Had to stop multiple times because of bisons crossing roads. State troopers had to chase off brown bears. When I go in the summer most of the animals are far away from paths and roads
