Don't get me wrong, I love that there are more people of different backgrounds getting /out/, but making it into some kind of spectacle, like you're special cause you're black and hiking, that's what rubs me the wrong way. You can enjoy the outdoors without going "look at me!" the whole way.

I'm glad they are helping to make public lands more diverse. People of Color and the physically challenged have been prohibited from participating in outdoors activities for too long in this country, it's about time people started speaking out and challenging the status quo.

This is ridiculous. If a person is truly an avid outdoors person he wouldn't be fat, because he'd be hitting the trails, biking, climbing, swimming, etc..

If I meet a fat person on a trail I assume he or she is working on getting healthier and I applaud and respect that.

But this new group of fat people who are proud of being fat don't belong out there. They have no intention of becoming healthier so they'd just end up sweaty and panting after 3 miles. Fuck them.

I feel like I must point out one quick flaw in that mentality. If a person is active but still consumes more calories than they burn they can be fat. Literally just watched a mountain climb deal where the guide was a dude with a big ole beer belly and man tits but could just trek all day at high altitude without an issue.

Truly baffling. I don't feel hostile toward these people because they don't really affect my life at all, but I do feel a little bad for them.
