In the knife's defence I must say it is not a Daniel Winkler design, but some ex-operator. Soldiers dont necessarily know how to make the best knives, and the shape of this one is good to stab people, since the tip sits at the middle of the knife, as in a dagger.
I also dont understand the fluted pins. Grime and shit get in there with no apparent benefit. I'd have preferred normal pins like in other knives he makes.
For the moment Im going to leave the knife as is, if the handle wasnt maple I'd GunKote it, but I dont want to destroy the beautiful (unstabilized) wood with chemicals.
I have more coming my way, maybe I change my mind on Winkler Knives after I get the Hunting Knife and a hawk.
