>>122612>>122612>u mad?Seriously though, you seem to be confused as to the idea behind the camelbak and the research that has gone into its effects on hydration with soldiers on patrol (which, frankly, is essentially hiking).
The idea is that if you sip constant instead of drinking a lot at any one time is that you will "absorb" all you drink. This is how they prevent over-hydrating.
When you stop and drink out of a bottle, you will drink a lot at one time (comparatively). This means a large portion of what you drank will be passed as urine.
Taking smaller sips more often will stop this. Sure, you can do that with a nagalene/bottle/canteen/whatever, but it's a pain in the ass.
This is why the camelbak is awesome. Plus it removes the annoyance of having a heavy as shit nagalene clipped to your belt, or the annoyance of taking your pack off every time you stop just to have a drink.
But like I said, for longer hikes, I would take a pack with a spot for a bladder and a nagalene/equivalent.
