Unfortunately I live in warm weather environment so all the stores carry is fucking cotton. Fortunately, I've got a down insulator, and some rain gear. Plan in doing some hiking so I might layer up; short sleeve, long sleeve, down jacket, rain gear. Hoping that's enough. Lows won't be too bad, lowest being 23 at night and mid 40s mid day.

Down is terrible when wet and those temperatures are cold enough to risk hypothermia. Be careful, anon. Pack lots of fleeces.

This anon is right. Keep the down for around camp and wear polar fleece, even cheap shit works fine. You can also wear some wool. Check out thrift shops.

At least they pitched their tents in an area somewhat above where it would puddle in a light rain, but it's still going to be muddy there no matter what, and if it rains a lot, their tents will get washed away in the creek.

Get a good poncho or other rain layer. Have it on or close at hand.

Get some fleece or wool for warmth. Don't pile on the warm layers under your weather layer until necessary.

Get a bunch of those freezer Ziploc bags to keep your shit in, in case your ruck gets soaked.

They work well enough, I always use a double lined rubbish sack to put all my stuff in and then put my sleeping bag in another bag inside the first, just in case. I'm paranoid about stuff getting wet though.

Keep at least 1 door open to vent humidity at all times.

Put the footbox of your sleeping bag/quilt inside your backpack or pack liner for extra waterproofing against splashback.

Be very careful to keep your groundsheet inside and under the tarp or it'll direct rainwater to your sleeping area

Tie rings or trailing rope to redirect rain runoff from the ridgeline so it doesn't drip inside

Make sure you properly dry your feet every time you stop to prevent maceration. Want good camp shoes?
1) take off wet socks and dry and treat your feet, balms are good
2) put on dry socks
3) put your feet in breadbags (plastic bags shaped a bit like socks)
4) put your wet boots back on over the breadbag and dry sock combo
The radiant heat from your feet will dry the boots a little, and you can just take off the boots and breadbags and get into bed. Plus you don't need camp shoes so less weight and more room for spare dry clothing
