>>1230216i was homeless for 3 years, i lived in a hammock until it ripped for the first year and was gifted a tent shortly after, i have back problems from the hammock
advice is learn how to build windblockers out of logs, set them around your tent and make sure you have loads of insulation on the floor inside, i did a cardboard layer as the base, then found some styrofoam and put blankets and clothes on top of the foam
eventually the tent ripped and i tried to patch it with duct tape but it didn't work well, ditched it and built a small shelter out of scrap plywood, clay from a creek and logs, had enough room for me and doggo to get in and sleep at night
sometimes we slept in those display barns outside hardware stores too, the bigger ones with upper levels, but my favorite spot was on a fairgrounds because it wasn't checked for homeless or repairs until july and had this building that they kept heated/cooled year-round where i could get inside through a door with a broken lock, if i avoided the cameras me and doggo could sleep in this spot downstairs where nobody ever visited in the nice warmness and i'd read him the old man and the sea because it was my only book
stay strong man, if a retard like me can survive some of the shittiest weather in a hammock, tent and makeshift lean-to you can do it
