Titanium is what, the ninth most abundant element in the Earth’s crust? it's very common in my things. (tough like salt, the element it needs to be in a overall save molecule). but still even in pure or alloy for its common for tools, jewels and as in various forms in the medical field.
Titanium oxide is safe too, and even if it wasn't there are other sources far more constrained in our daily life. it's used to color stuff white, like paint, but also food, pills sunscreen or toothpaste im pretty sure you have it at home its marked as additive E 171 (or CI 77891 as pigment in cosmetics.)
So far the only concern is with nano dust particles that enter for example the lungs just like lots of other stuff it can cause pneumoconiosis.
also if one would want to be pedantic titanium does not rust. As Rust is hydrated iron oxide. only oxidation would be applicable.Though in day to day life any corroded metal will be called rust.
