Honestly, choose North. Here down south it's pretty shit for camping, it's forbidden everywhere except private/municipal camping parks where you have to pay, can't make a fire and will have your tent no more than 5 meters away from the old german couple. /out/door culture here is non existent other than going to the beach. Hunting is highly regulated and restricted, our mountains are all mountainlets so no such thing as decent mountaineering either, 98% of forest land is privately owned and mostly disgusting eucalyptus, good luck seeing any fauna other than maybe some birds, you can't be more than 3 to 5 km away from the nearest road, lack of rain means shitty rivers adding to already polluted due industry cunts and I could go on.
Good things are obviously the beach, if you like the ocean this is a place for you, some of the biggest waves in the world, no waves at all, big deserted beaches, cold or warm water so lots to choose from. If agriculture is your thing then it's also a nice place due to some very cheap land, cheap way of life, great weather, safe and friendly people.
3/10 due to the ocean otherwise I wouldn't rate it at all. geres and estrela are nice though.
