I started browsing /out/ early in highschool after /b/ got boring for me, and the cairn hate was one of the first things I inherited from this board.
Fast forward a few months to the summer when I became a counselor in training at a summer camp in northern Ontario. We did hikes and nature walks and the like, I was super into it but the latent cairn hate was still in full effect.

Turns out they were an old form of property demarcation, had been there since the camp started, and were a main "point of interest" for the trail.

Whatever, I'd do it again. Fuck cairns.

nah I drill a hole through them with a hammer-drill and masonry bit, support the structure with some rebar, and secure the rocks to the rod with epoxy resin. go ahead and kick em.
