No more dead hives

Hello /out/. I am wanting to get in to beekeeping and have been asking around locally, but I haven't found an answer to this.

I live in a town where the city likes to use foggers to kill mosquitoes. None of the beekeepers I have found have to deal with this so they don't know how to protect hives from the foggers. How would I protect hives from the foggers when they are out? I was thinking of getting one of those portable camping shower tents and sliding that over, but I'm not sure that would work. Would anyone know how to protect hives from insecticide foggers?

Two things:

1. Don't place the hives near lakes or stagnant water (where mosquitoes breed). Try to place them in rather inaccessible terrain instead, preferably small patches of forest or something similiar. That way they'll not only be safe from pesticides, but also less likely to be stolen. If your hives are on your own land, don't allow them to spray their poison there.

2. As for protecting the bees (which is the actual problem), watch when they use the pesticides. If they know what they're doing, they'll only spray at night or when there's nothing blooming, or in other words, when the bees aren't flying there. If you're in the EU, they are even legally obligated to do so. If they spray at other times, you could perhaps try getting enviromental activists to pressure them.

That sounds like a good way to get your bees killed. They need to be able to ventilate the hive and collect water.

I'm in the US, but my town is very good about announcing when they spray. They only do it after sun down. I was thinking of leaving it over the hive for a day or two while they spray, then removing it.

pine is the go to
fir and heath make give a darker colour and fuller taste, less sweetness(heath gives bitter notes on it too)
still you will have to pull them out of these zones during autumn/winter not to be killed due to cold, but essentially you get to avoid most of crop dusting and spraying, you get to experiment with tastes and the pine/fir/heath makes honey thicker in general so you can be more lax on harvest time (honey will be thicc and ready to harvest even when flower honey will not be ready yet)
as you understand we are already talking about nomadic beehives, you will have to move them around 2-3 times per year, you might want to look into it tho, since it gives bigger flexibility and a broader spectrum of tastes
i dont know if this will help you, i am just dropping this in case you have diverse terrain to pull it off, its the most efficient way

I'm pretty sure at this rate the only way to keep bees is to move out of town. I would like to but I'm not sure I can.

I live in a place where there really are no woods. It's a town then farm everywhere. The aerial spray is easy to protect against out of town - just put a tarp over it for a few days while they spray. But the foggers will JUST the entire hive and I'm certain at this point there is no way to protect against it.
