I've never felt iffy about hiking in bear country, but every time I see some jogger, acting exactly like a startled prey animal, oblivious until he/she almost runs me over and focused entirely on breathing, I shudder a little at how remarkably easy it would be for any predator, human or otherwise, to take them out.
Stay on the pavement or the kiddie parks if you wanna jog.
