For walkers and hikers its hard to beat our footpaths and hostels.
We don't have much in the way of mad landowners and "get of my property types" like the US has.
While we don't have camping access like the Scots and Scandinavians lots of farms let you camp on the land. In some of the more remote areas [like a mile away from town] you have food and drink on an honesty basis. Just put your cash in the box after helping yourself.
