Is motorcycle camping /out/-related?

I'm looking for specific strategies pertaining to:
>securing loads to a bike
>selecting a travel destination that your specific bike can access (how to know what kinds of roads a dirtbike can do, but a sportsbike or a cruiser can't)
>how much/what kind of gear to bring?
>what to do with your riding gear and helmet when you've reached a trailhead and want to go hiking?
>riding long stretches of backroads with no gas stations
>riding a bike equipped with street tires on unimproved dirt roads

I've tried the topic on /o/ before, with very limited success. I'm hoping to take a road trip down to northern Arizona this summer and camp out the whole time, but some of those roads are a little sketchy and I'm not sure how my cruiser would handle them.
