Are you able to help a /k/ommando, /out/? I've been stuck living the city life for the last 11 years and I need to start getting back outside more than the occasional hunting trip or couple-hour trail hike.
I plan to do a few low-level /out/ings this year at the local state and national forests, 10-15 mile hike in and then camp for 2-3 days, then back out, nothing super intense. I've been lurking here a lot lately and building a gear list. Learned a lot from the tent and backpacking threads, but was looking to discuss entry-level sleeping bags.
I guess, some general guidelines would be helpful. Whats a maximum weight you'd choose? Minimum temperature? Thinking 3 seasons. If anyone has a good recommendation for a bag that allows you to open the bottom and stick your feet out that be excellent, I cant sleep with my feet covered. Budget is also a concern, not trying to cheap out, but looking for the best bang-for-my-buck considering that I'm buying a lot of gear all at once and it adds up.
