I woke up this morning and being the impulsive cunt that I am I randomly made up my mind that I will leave and wander around the outback until I get tired of it or die. I'm leaving Melbourne today. some more comments before i sleep.

today i only saw one person all day, and it was a car that i saw literally just 2 minutes before i got off the road for camp. almost made it a whole day without seeing anyone.

its fucking hot. 40 degrees 2 days in a row. i have no air con, and there is no wind, so i got by rubbing ice cubes on my head every 20 mins.

cold coke and beer don't satisfy me anymore. water that you ignore in your normal life, is like the best thing ever now. can't get enough cold water.

yesterday morning got up at 5 am, and saw a pair of glowing eyes watching me, it was a fox, i tried to scare it and it flinched but didn't run when he figured i wasn't going to chase. and even walked towards me. but then he fucked off somewhere

camping alone is cool, but not very fun at nights at sleep time, you're hyper aware of every little sound, always on edge. maybe it's just me because it's my first time camping alone.

the photos ive been posting are all taken with my laptop camera, i have much better pics/movies but i can't upload them due to shitty internet. i will when i get home.

I don't know much about the access road, but I recommend crossing the Nullarbor, fresh camping along the way, real clear stars at night, and you're bound to see a shooting star if you look up at night for a minute or two, lot of trucks and hippies on the road though

literally looking at an ufo as i type this

something flew across the sky. flashing a reddish orange light. with varying speed. it would dart forward super fast, stop, and it kept doing "U" motions. cant be a sattelite. they just orbit at const speed, and in a straight line. can't be a plane as planes don't stop and dart forward. also planes make noise. this thing was silent. can't be a bird bug or a drone, because it's light remained constant across the skyline

OP Here.

Currently in port augusta staying in a motel for the night. Drove here from broken hill last night, had to sleep in the car because I couldn't find a camping spot.

Found some problems with the car, the fuel pump is leaking, and the turbo intake hose had come off, and the turbo was sucking in crap for a few days.

All the mechanics in town were busy, and the one guy I found basically said she'll be right m8.

So I will continue to marree tomorrow morning and go to alice springs via the oodnadatta track, and then to kalgoorlie via the great central road with a leaky fuel pump and a turbo that has sucked in dust. YOLO

The mechanic said the engine and Turbo weren't damaged. And the fuel leak is only 1 liter per 100k. Should be OK. If not I got enough food And water to lay last around 2 weeks. I'm not going that remote anyway

Also your turbo shouldn't have been sucking anything in for a few days, because you should be checking your engine bay and fluid levels every arvo after driving and every morning before driving. Don't become another statistic mate, your vehicle is your lifeline.

I found the best camp sites were those you found in daylight because you could get an idea of what was around.

I'd be heading out of town a 100 or so then finding a side road at this time of night.

Take a day off driving occasionally. My leg got bad from sitting too much. I did 15500km in 3.5 weeks. In hind site too far too fast.

Just crossed that section about 2 hours ago. I didn't take the tennant creek way, I went plenty hwy/donahue hwy.

pretty boring aside from those grass plains you mentioned. road is pretty rough too, and the flies are insane. i have to force myself to go outside to take photos. 500 flies gather in 30 seconds. the moths and bugs at night are even worse. the flies and moths ruined dinner and breakfast

this was near min min, where people see weird lights in the sky called min min lights, the last one when the sky turns blue is a plane, but not sure about the others. especially one that appears in the middle of the sky then flies left.

Probably a good move. Do some research on stuff to check out before you move perhaps. I kind of got stuck in a driving rut to the point it was hard to stop and you need to at times. Pretty sure he was underage when he started. I had doxx on him to contact the family if shtf and he needed bailing out when he got over east. I think it was his first big trip and realised he had bitten off more than he could chew. He expected his friends back home to back him more than they did and when the attention ran dry and his knees were giving him issues he called it a day.
