>>125670>simply because it's not practical. Thus, those emergency cord trinkets have (as far as I know) no realistic use unless you're trekking around naked without a first aid kit. I do believe that's the point of them, they're rope you'll always have on you, even if you flip your canoe and loose your bag, or whatever. Obviously, you don't want to loose your gear, but they're 'survival' bracelets, right? I met a guy once who had a hat he took everywhere outdoors, with stuff like fish hooks and line sewn under badges, because, he reasoned he'd always have it with him. He pointed out it didn't matter how well stocked your kit was if you lost it, so by storing items in an unobtrusive, but secure way on your body, you were always prepared. (he was a scout leader, and apparently his scouts would show up with their survival kits in tupperware shoe boxes and stuff, and then when they went on a hike, they would all leave the kits in the vehicle.)
It's emergency gear, backups for when you loose everything else, and you hope to god you never need to use it. It's a metrhod of storing a decent length of decent rope in a compact way, that is nearly impossible to loose (depending how it's attached, I know my bracelets won't be coming off any time soon, I can't even get them off without about 5 minutes of fiddling)(Or a quick knife cut, I suppose)
But yeah, I mostly wear them because I think they look cool.
