>>1249628Whats wrong with the Katadyn, in your opinion?
>>1249631The lifestraw looks interesting. I'll take a look at it for sure. I do like the idea of a soft bottle though, seems like it'd be easier to pack and stow away when not using it, or to squeeze water into another bottle, but hard bottles are nicer to fill.
168g vs 65g on weight.
4000L+100L vs 1000L on life of filter. Not a fan of having to replace a secondary filter every 100L.
0.2 micron vs 0.1 micron, I'm sure this doesn't make much of a difference.
1L/min flow rate vs ? (looks pretty quick, probably comparable)
However, a couple things I worry about with the Go, filter is friction fit with o-rings and may come loose with sloshing and whatnot.
Hard bottle will probably get cracked with the way I throw my pack around.
Has an adapter kit that works with other common bottles though.
Things I worry with the BeFree. Soft bottle couple be prone to punctures.
Has a weird thread size and only fits Hydrapak soft bottles.
Buying 4x more filters over time.
Top cap to close the bottle looks flimsy as hell and would probably break quick.
If I assume 5L/day, befree would last 200 days and the Go 800 days, however you'd also buy 40 carbon filter replacements in that time.
So Katadyn filters after 800 days costs: $120cad
Go filters after 800 days costs: $30cad + $240cad
