If I were to calculate the cost of setting up that operation and working it, vs investing that cost and buying food from specialized producers at low cost due to economies of scale, I can get more by doing less the modern way.
Still a neat idea though, and perhaps the economics of it are not the primary factor for many people, and that's fair.
