There are rather a lot of American doctors in my country, they've told me horror stories about the American healthcare system, where every doctor and hospital is schizophrenic-level paranoid of being sued. According to them the reason American doctors submit patients to a massive battery of unnecessary tests and diagnostic procedures isn't to bill the insurance company for more cash like most people believe, it's just a liability thing so that, in the 0000.1% chance that the patient wasn't actually suffering from a headache but a turbo-rare brain cancer, their family can't sue them afterwards and bring in their Dr. Medical Expert® they retained to testify that "if only they had done this test they would have known immediately and the guy might still be alive!". It's at the point where most American emergency rooms have policies that any patient appearing with X symptom has to automatically be given Y and Z tests, no matter how absurdly mild and unrelated that symptom actually is.
Pretty much all of the doctors said one of the main reasons they escaped America was to escape that fucking culture, it was just too high-stress to be worth it, even after considering the money in America is 4x better.
